Away vs Chelsea

Manchester United lost agains Chelsea at Stamford Bridge by one goal. And now the club is in third spot trailing leaders Chelsea by 5 points; Arsenal is second place on level points but better goal difference. Dimitar did not play due to injury and Vidic remained on the bench.

The starting XI was: Van der Sar as goalkeeper; O’Shea, Brown, Evans and Evra as defenders; Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson, Valencia and Giggs as midfielders; Rooney was a lone striker.

Carling and FIFA news

The fixtures for the quarter finals of the Carling Cup were drawn last week. Manchester United, the current Cup holder, will face Tottenham Hotspur, the other finalist last season and Dimitar’s former club. The match will take place on December1, the same day the Ballon d’Or is announced. On that same day, Portsmouth will play against Aston Villa. A day later, Blackburn Rovers will face Chelsea and Manchester City will play against Arsenal.

CL: Home vs CSKA

Manchester United drew with 3 goals at Old Trafford against CSKA Moscow for the group stages of the Champions League. This match came in the middle of injuries, birthdays and before the important match against top-leaguers Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Dimitar and Vidic did not play due to injury. The result puts United in the knockout stages of the Champions League as their points and their results against CSKA Moscow qualifies them even if they lose the next two matches.

Home vs Blackburn

Manchester United beat Blackburn Rovers with two goals at Old Trafford. Dimitar scored the first one and was named Man Of the Match. This result keeps them in second place of the EPL table, two points behind Chelsea who demolished Bolton. Vidic did not play because of injury.

The starting XI was: Van der Sar as goalkeeper; O’Shea, Brown, Evans and Evra as defenders; Valencia, Anderson, Carrick and Nani as midfielders; Rooney and Dimitar as forwards.

Carling: Away vs Barnsley

Manchester United beat the Championship team Barnsley at Oakley with 2 goals and 10 men as Neville was expelled on the hour mark. This match was the fourth round of the Carling Cup. Dimitar and Vidic did not play and were not on the bench. This result takes them to the quarterfinals.
