his penalty was simiular to the one he did in the carling cup final for spurs but this time the keeper dived the right way. it wouldnt kill him to put some power. and Rio ferdinand's penalty was a miss but not as bad as berbatovs and he is a defender who made howard pull a good save but berbatov made it an easy save for Howard.

I actually think Ferdinand's penalty was good. It showed a learning curve. English footballers are prone to put their shots wide: Beckham - WC, Terry - CL. It is clear he wanted to put his shot inside the goal. But Howard did a great save. Howard played for Manchester United and he said in an interview after the semifinal that he was lectured on how every United player shoot penalties. You can see that Howard remembered how Rio shot, he guess it or he saw the movement.

Besides, there is the small matter that Ferdinand is paid to defend. He, Vidic and the youngsters did a great job ensuring the clean sheet. However, the last third failed to do their job for 120 minutes.

I think Dimitar is blamed by the fans in frustration for his overall work rate and that his presence has relegated Tévez, a fans favorite. Although it is not Dimitar's fault and his statistics say he has done not such a bad job.
