Last Friday, Bulgaria played an international friendly against the club Shakhtar Donetsk. The match ended in a goalless draw in Turkey. The fixtures for the quarter finals of the Carling Cup were drawn last week. Manchester United, the current Cup holder, will face Tottenham Hotspur, the other finalist last season and Dimitar’s former club. Congratulations are in order for Dimitar! He is the proud father of a baby girl. His girlfriend Elena gave birth this Thursday October 15 to a 53 cm and 3.8 kg girl by C-section at 7:50 am at the St. Lazarus Hospital in Sofia. There were no complications and the mother and baby are healthy. The girl has been named Dea.

Bulgaria ended with a good result for the last match of the 2010 World Cup qualifying. The qualification was lost the previous weekend and only their pride (and the index for the 2012 Euro qualification stages) was at stake. It was a goal fest; Bulgaria destroyed Georgia, 6:2 in Sofia.
