Away match vs Aston Villa
Manchester United had a scoreless draw with Aston Villa at Villa Park. Dimitar was not even in the bench because he has a hamstring injury. But even with those circumstances, there is praise for Dimitar this weekend!
Paul Wilson at The Guardian online site dedicated his first two paragraphs of the match report to Dimitar. His title: “United look scruffy without luxury item”. Then Wilson begins writing the following:
“Come back Dimitar Berbatov, all is forgiven. Manchester United have created and missed so many chances in recent weeks that people have started to wonder whether the classy Bulgarian is a luxury they do not need, a bit like Rodney Marsh at City all those years ago.
United's first goalless league game for a year gave the lie to that idea. In Berbatov's absence, they struggled to create any chances at all and, with Park Ji-Sung and Carlos Tevez failing to rise to the occasion, and Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo below their best, Villa held the champions quite comfortably to move above Arsenal into fourth.”

I have to say, overall Aston Villa created more chances than Manchester United. Ronney and Tevez went missing. Vidic looked clumsy with very good luck as the referee did not award Villa a penalty. Giggs was at the center of the midfield but he did not create or defend enough as an experienced central midfielder. Carrick was a little aimless and Evra suffer a lot of kicks.
Not all is lost with this draw. The 2 teams at the top, Liverpool and Chelsea, ALSO had scoreless draws. It is just that ManUtd did not capitalize on its rivals failures. ManUtd played after Liverpool’s and Chelsea’s matches. Arsenal lost 3:0 against Manchester City.
Now I fear for ManUtd destiny against Villareal at Spain. Cristiano was substituted 10 minutes before the end of the match with a leg injury. Definitely it is time for Tevez to wake up and shine. Show all the fans why ManUtd should also pay 30 million pounds for him next summer.
