Manchester United lost against Liverpool at Anfield by two goals. Dimitar had a bad performance and played most of the match. Vidic played almost 90 minutes before he was sent off for a second yellow card. After five bad results, Liverpool needed a mood lift and these goals gave them that feeling.
It was a strong and experienced starting XI: Van der Sar as goalkeeper; O’Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra as defenders; Valencia, Scholes, Carrick and Giggs as midfielders; Dimitar and Rooney as forwards.
In the first half Evra got booked in the 14th minute for a foul on Torres. Also, Dimitar is shown a yellow card for a foul on a rival player in the 36th minute. In the second half, a marvelous Torres scored the first goal on the 64th minute beating Van der Sar from close range. Owen, returning to Anfield as a rival player, saw action from the bench and entered the field in the last 20 minutes substituting the ineffective Dimitar. Nani substituted Scholes at the same time, in the 73rd minute. Vidic got his first yellow of the day, seconds later. Then, Vidic saw his second yellow for a foul on a rival player in the 89th minute. Also, Mascherano from Liverpool was shown second yellow on the 94th minute. The second goal came in the 95th minute courtesy of the player who substituted Torres. The game ended on the 97th minute.

ManUtd.com: “Dimitar Berbatov. A frustrating day for the Bulgarian. Often outnumbered, the United no.9 didn’t see an awful lot of the ball. When he did take possession, any danger was soon snuffed out by the Liverpool defenders.”
Goal.com: “Berbatov - 6 - Non-event of a match for the Bulgarian as he failed to get involved. Booked for a wild lunge in first half and brought off for Owen.”
M.E.N.: “Berbatov: Couldn’t bring calm to a frenzied match and never suggested he could inspire 5”
Telegraph: “Berbatov was fortunate not to concede a penalty on 45 minutes after a wrestling match with Kuyt that left the Liverpool midfielder with a torn shirt.”
