Manchester United won their EPL match against Stoke City at Britannia Stadium with two goals in the second half assisted by a masterful Giggs. The club reached top of the league on goal difference as Chelsea lost their away match against Wigan. Dimitar played the full match and scored the first goal; Vidic also played the full 90 minutes.
The starting XI was: Foster as goalkeeper; O’Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra as defenders; Valencia, Scholes, Fletcher and Nani as midfielders; Rooney and Dimitar as forwards.
The first half ended goalless. But the man of the match entered in the 55th minute substituting the always ineffective Nani. Scholes was booked in the 58th minute and found mercy from the referee when he did not receive a second yellow for a handball in the middle of the field. A couple of minutes later, Dimitar scored the first goal inside the six yards box with a tap in from an excellent assist from Giggs who was the creator of that goal. Dimitar dully recognized Giggs effort.
In the 76th minute, O’Shea scored the second goal with a header resulting from a free kick taken by Giggs. Rooney was substituted by Owen in the 80th minute, to rest him for the midweek Champions League match. Scholes also was substituted by Carrick at the same point.

Stoke 0 - 2 Man Utd
By Phil McNulty
ManUtd.com: “Dimitar Berbatov Scored United’s first from close range but was otherwise fairly quiet. Showed some good touches on the ball but found it difficult to unpick the crowded Stoke defence.”
Goal.com: “Berbatov - 7 - Simplest of finishes for the opener. Fairly quiet otherwise, but does it matter if the ball is going in to the back of the net? Impressive when defending Stoke's corners.”
M.E.N: “Berbatov: Hadn’t been able to make much headway until he walked the goal in 6”
Next match is on Wednesday at home against Wolfsburg for the group stages of the Champions League.
