Bulgaria's Footballer of the Year 2008

Dimitar was named on December 27th as Bulgaria’s Footballer of the Year 2008 voted by the journalist of the Bulgarian Football Union. Berbatov got 283 points ahead of runner-up Georgi Petkov of Levski with 162 points.

It is the fifth time Dimitar obtains this award (2002, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008), equaling the record of Hristo Stoichkov.

Dimitar said of this award: “"There is something special about winning this honour for a fifth time. The most important thing for me is to be healthy and to fulfil my aims step by step. I was really happy to receive it from Stoichkov. It was a great gesture from him."

That's very true AleG, because that means that more players will be recognised for their achievements. Emil Kostadinov in 1993 won Bulgarian Footballer Of The Year because he scored the winning goal against France in a play off for qualifying for the 1994 World Cup.

I think someone else from the Bulgarian national team has an opportunity if they qualify for the world cup.

Actually he dont have concurrency, like Zlatan ibrahimovic in sweden he will win it in the following years too
