The fixtures for the quarter finals of the Carling Cup were drawn last week. Manchester United, the current Cup holder, will face Tottenham Hotspur, the other finalist last season and Dimitar’s former club. The match will take place on December1, the same day the Ballon d’Or is announced. On that same day, Portsmouth will play against Aston Villa. A day later, Blackburn Rovers will face Chelsea and Manchester City will play against Arsenal.

In other news, FIFA has revealed the list of the 23 finalists for the Men’s FIFA World Player of the Year. Cristiano is the current holder. Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo are among the finalists. Other players named from the Premier League: Ballack, Drogba, Essien, Gerrard, Lampard, Terry and Torres.
