Carling: Semifinal vs Derby, first leg

It does not look good for Tévez. Manchester United lost by one goal with Derby County at Pride Park. It was the first leg of the Carling Cup semifinals. Derby plays in the Championship Division. Not all is lost, the second leg is in Old Trafford and the players must win by more than one goal.

Ferguson fielded an inexperienced team and in his post-match interview he is glad ManUtd did not lose by a bigger score line. The XI was: Kuskczak as goalkeeper; O'shea, Vidic, Evans and Rafael as defenders; Anderson, Scholes, Gibson and Nani as midfielders; Tévez and Welbeck as forwards.

Vidic was captain of the team; Rooney and Cristiano were on the bench; Dimitar was not part of this match probably resting for Chelsea’s match. Tévez played the whole 90 minutes.

Derby scored at the 29th minute; Rooney and Cristiano entered on the 62nd minute in place of Welbeck and Scholes, respectively; Carrick entered in place of Anderson on the 74th minute. Derby had more chances and possession, and Cristiano was close to score from a free kick. It was a bad display for ManUtd.

Almost scored

I was saying it does not look good for Tévez as he could have used this opportunity to show Ferguson and the fans that he is an indispensable player. He seemed unhappy, frustrated and a poor decision maker. This happens hours after the rift in the media about his permanent contract. Tévez says that ManUtd had not spoken to him about a permanent contract, as his loan expires at the end of this season. Tévez publicly contradicted Ferguson because SAF said Gill (ManUtd executive) is handling the contract talks. And the worst part is that the chief executive of the Professional Footballers' Association is against a third party ownership of a player. MSI owns the economic rights of Tévez and because of that his price tag has escalated to 32 million pounds. The thing is, that fee would break ManUtd transfer record and the awful part is that money would not go to football but to MSI treasure.

What does it has to do with Dimitar? Well, Tévez was part of the starting XI before Dimitar arrived. And now, Ferguson prefers the Rooney-Dimitar partnership leaving Tévez with few matches to play. I suspect Tévez hates Dimitar because of it. I can see it when they play together, the way he looks at Dimitar, the way he ignores him when Dimitar is in better position, the way he celebrated the Stoke goal as he was the architect of the goal and barely thanked Dimitar.

Next match: Sunday vs Chelsea at Old Trafford.

In other news, Cristiano almost kills himself in a car accident with his Ferrari. Oh my God! Good thing he was not hurt. He was on his way to training at 10 in the morning. This happens just days before Chelsea's match and his award as FIFA World Player of the Year. I cannot bear the thought of something bad happening to my favorite players. I hope this experience gives a new meaning to his life.
