CWC Semifinal vs Gamba Osaka
Manchester United beat Gamba Osaka this morning. It was a goal fest, 5-3. In the first half, the Japanese team put a lot of effort. Manchester United only managed to score 2 goals from set pieces. The other goals from both teams were in the second half. As a result, ManUtd reaches the Final of the tournament to play vs an Ecuadorian team.
Dimitar did not play. Ferguson fielded a reliable team: Van der Sar as goalkeeper; Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, and Evra as defenders; Cristiano, Anderson, Scholes and Nani as midfielders; Giggs and Tévez as forwards. I have to say, Tévez did not impressed me. He was substituted by Rooney around the hour mark. The goal scorers were Vidic, Cristiano, Rooney twice and Fletcher.
It was a match that could raise the morale of any player. Maybe because the match was at night in Japan, you could see innumerable flashes from cameras activated by every ManUtd movement and especially for Cristiano. The public was fascinated to see the Champions of Europe. And the best thing is that they witnessed a lot of goals.
The second half was almost like an exhibition match. Ferguson seemed delighted and even surprised. And Cristiano had an ear-to-ear smile when they got their third goal. Rooney was all smiles.
But the match exhibit the worst of ManUtd: Cristiano without much passion standing like Dimitar at the end of the match, a violent Rooney kicking a rival player, Neville with awful errors as he conceded a penalty.
I think this tournament should be played at the beginning of the season, like the Community Shield. The referee for this match is Mexican.
