Interview: More than goal scorer
Dimitar was interviewed by bTV last week. There he talked about his time at Manchester United. He defended his style, he wants more than goals and, says he has lots of respect for Ferguson. He said:
“I want people to remember me as a very good and skilful player. I don’t want to be remembered as a top scorer.”
“I have played with strikers with 100 goals who can’t control the ball. It seems like a three-metre pass when they are trying to control the ball with their feet.”
He says the Premier League trophy was his number one aim. “I was probably much more pleased than my team-mates, but it was my first title after all. I think it's understandable since Ryan Giggs told me he has eleven championship medals.”
He acknowledges that he is in awe of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. “All the players have a huge respect for him. You can be tying up your boots but when he begins to talk you just freeze and listen to him. His word is law to us.”
